Top Stories of 2007... 6.Greg Excellence GBW WORLD Champion for a minute... It was May 5th 2007, after months of conflicts with Backlash Productions Greg Excellence was finally given a shot against the newly won GBW WORLD Champion Derek Frazier. In an amazing contest that soon became a 3-Way Match, Greg Excellence managed to take out "Showtime" JT Roberts and even hit a "Twin City Driver" on Derek Frazier to get a pin and 3 count. The celebration was to be short lived as Maven Bentley would contest that Frazier's foot was on the rope, and challenging Greg's right to the title. Arguments lead to a restart of the match that saw Derek gain a quick pin on Roberts to walk out of the building with the title still in hand and Excellence still trying to grasp his dreams. 5.Team EGO back & better than before... 2006 was a successful year for Team EGO as CORE would become the longest reigning GBW WORLD Champion, with of course thanks to his partner "Showtime" JT Roberts. However, with the beginning of 2007 ;after CORE lost the title and JT on loosing streak, a growing animosity between the 2 surfaced. Several tag team matches early in the year showed each man having a different outlook for the future, often leading to miscommunications, and backfires. A visible split occurred between the 2 as CORE would help out The FAN in his ongoing conflict with The National Treasures. This conflict however would become the catalyst as American Doug would attempt to recruit Roberts for the Treasures, only to have it reignite the comradery between CORE & Roberts and have them functioning as a team again.
4.Hot Shots break The Untouchables streak to become GBW TAG TEAM Champions... To say that The Untouchables had run through the tag team roster at GBW would be an understatement. Teddy Stigma and Ryan McBride would make an attempt early off in 2007 with one of the closet near victories against Starr and Phenix, only to loose to cheating ways. Off and on singles matches between both parties always seemed to end in a draw with both teams being even at the end of the night. Scheduling conflicts would eventually ruin the Hot Shots title chances except for their sudden reemergence in September. In an amazing turn of events Stigma and McBride would manage to overcome all obstacles and defeat one of the most successful teams in GBW history as well as become the new GBW TAG TEAM Champions, just setting the bar one notch higher in tag team wrestling.
